Career
Sharon trained as a lawyer in Scotland with Maclay Murray & Spens (now Dentons) before moving to London in 2007 to join Dundas & Wilson (now CMS). During her time in London, she advised banks, insolvency practitioners, companies, shareholders and other stakeholders on restructurings, insolvencies and related contentious and transactional matters across a range of sectors.
Sharon moved to the BVI in 2014 and joined Carey Olsen, where she developed a broad corporate, finance, insolvency and restructuring practice. She advised on a wide range of transactions and complex matters, including real estate finance, emerging market businesses, security enforcement and distressed situations. Her clients included directors, lenders, insolvency practitioners, companies, shareholders, investors and trust companies.
Her legal practice gave her extensive experience of the interaction between corporate, finance and insolvency law, together with a practical understanding of the commercial and regulatory considerations affecting BVI structures.
Sharon subsequently established Little Bay Consulting to provide high-quality, hands-on corporate management and fiduciary services to BVI entities. She now acts as a director of a range of BVI structures, including funds, approved managers, holding companies, token issuers and entities operating in the digital asset and DeFi sectors. She also undertakes MLRO and compliance roles and provides board-level fiduciary, governance and regulatory support to both regulated and unregulated businesses. Her combination of legal, fiduciary and insolvency experience enables her to bring practical BVI legal and regulatory insight to complex structures, particularly where there are significant governance, regulatory, transactional or risk considerations.
